Three-day itinerary from Sunbilla: Bertiz, Baztan, Zugarramurdi and Urdax
Three days are enough for a strong first trip from Sunbilla if the goal is not to see everything but to combine nature, villages and history without spending the holiday in the car.
This itinerary keeps Sunbilla as a fixed base and groups each day geographically.

Day 1: Sunbilla, Bidasoa and Bertiz
Begin with Sunbilla itself and a riverside walk before taking on the wider area.

Morning: short Greenway section
Use a manageable out-and-back section of the Bidasoa Greenway rather than trying to cover the whole route.
Afternoon: Bertiz
Focus on the historic garden, Interpretation Centre and a short trail for a realistic half-day visit.

Day 2: Elizondo and Amaiur
Start in Elizondo with Txokoto, Jaime Urrutia, Arizkunenea and the historic centre.

Midday: food in Baztan
Use Elizondo for chocolate, cheese or a local meal without rushing to add too many villages.
Afternoon: Amaiur
Continue to Amaiur for the village, mill, Archaeological Centre and castle walk.
Day 3: Zugarramurdi and Urdax
Use the final day for Xareta. The two villages are close together but their caves are very different.

Morning: Zugarramurdi
Combine the Witch Museum and the large open cave to understand both history and legend.
Afternoon: Urdax
Build the afternoon around your reserved Ikaburu cave time, then add the monastery or village if time remains.
What about the coast?
If coast and city matter more, replace day three with Hondarribia-Hendaye or San Sebastián.
Avoid overplanning
Do not add destinations just because they are nearby. Leave time for meals, parking, walking and returning to the house.

Not if you choose a short Greenway section and a moderate Bertiz visit. Longer hikes should be separated.

Yes, by replacing one inland day with Hondarribia, Hendaye or San Sebastián.
Is the itinerary family-friendly?
Yes when distances are reduced and free time is protected.
Which visits need booking?
Especially the guided Urdax cave tour and any attraction with timed capacity.
What if it rains?
Replace longer outdoor routes with Elizondo, Urdax Cave, the Witch Museum, food and indoor visits.
