San Sebastián is one of the best city day trips for balancing a rural stay in Sunbilla. In one day you can walk La Concha Bay, explore the Old Town, eat pintxos, reach the Comb of the Wind and finish with a panoramic view from Igeldo.
For a first visit, combine sea, Old Town and food rather than trying to fit in every museum and monument.

1. La Concha
La Concha is the city's emblematic beach and extends for more than 1.5 kilometres. The promenade frames the bay, Santa Clara Island and the elegant city frontage.

2. The Old Town
The Parte Vieja occupies the heart of the former walled city below Mount Urgull. Its narrow streets contain historic buildings, restaurants and a dense concentration of pintxo bars.
3. Constitution Square
Constitution Square sits in the centre of the Old Town. Its numbered balconies recall the period when the square was used for bullfighting, while the former town hall occupies one side.

4. Pintxos
Food is central to the San Sebastián experience. Moving between a few Old Town bars for one or two pintxos at a time is a practical way to sample different styles.
5. Harbour and Mount Urgull
From the Old Town, the harbour and paths up Mount Urgull are close by. The hill combines viewpoints, historic fortifications and sea views.
6. Ondarreta and the Comb of the Wind
At the western end of the bay, Ondarreta leads to Eduardo Chillida's Comb of the Wind, three steel sculptures embedded in the rocks where the city meets the Cantabrian Sea.

7. Mount Igeldo
The funicular climbs to Igeldo for one of the best-known panoramic views over La Concha. It is particularly worthwhile in clear weather.

The promenade, beach and funicular make the city easy to adapt for families. The Old Town is also walkable if you avoid peak crowding.
