Xorroxin Waterfall from Sunbilla: route, parking and practical guide
Xorroxin Waterfall is one of the classic walks in the Baztan Valley: Atlantic woodland, streams, stone bridges and a hidden cascade near Erratzu. From Sunbilla it works perfectly as a half-day trip.
Official Navarra tourism information describes a 7.4 km circular route taking around two hours with roughly 150 m of ascent. It is easy and waymarked, although damp ground requires suitable footwear.

1. Start in Erratzu
Leave the car in the designated entrance parking and walk through the village rather than driving into the narrow streets.

2. Into the forest
The route crosses the Aranea area and enters beech, oak, chestnut and hazel woodland, following the sound of water deeper into the valley.

3. Xorroxin Waterfall
The waterfall appears after following the Iñarbegi stream through the forest. Moss, rock and dense vegetation make the setting as important as the cascade itself.

4. Best time to visit
Spring and autumn usually offer a good combination of flow, colour and comfortable temperatures. After heavy rain the waterfall is stronger but the path is more slippery.
5. With children
The route is family-friendly, but it remains a natural trail with roots, wet rock and stream edges. Keep the second half of the day light.
6. What to bring
Shoes with grip, water, a light waterproof and enough phone battery are more useful than technical equipment.
7. What to combine with Xorroxin
Erratzu itself deserves a short walk. Elizondo is a practical food stop; Amaiur is a strong history-focused alternative.
